The Northwest Chamber invites guests to gather with other business and community leaders at Community Coffee on Thursday, December 8 from 8 to 9 AM at First Bethany Bank & Trust, located at 6500 NW 39th Expressway (Historic Route 66) in Bethany. The Northwest Chamber holds this free networking event each month as an opportunity for local businesses to expand business contacts and grow business through a visibility opportunity in the Northwest Metro Area.

This month’s host, First Bethany Bank, originated in 1903 from a handful of merchants and farmers and has been owned and operated by the small family since 1967. A unique website will allow each advertiser to view their ad and submit changes, corrections , and/or approve their ad prior to print online. Assistance with ad design is available at no additional charge. Online ads should be submitted camera ready. For those ads that need additional design review, please draw a mock-ad on the advertising contact agreement form in the space provided. A designer will be in contact with you via email. Ad space must be reserved by November 18, 2011. All ad copy must be submitted by December 1, 2011.

The Northwest Chamber invites businesses and organizations from the Northwest area to attend Community Coffee on November 17. Community Coffee is a free business networking event presented each month by the Northwest Chamber and hosted by a Chamber Member.

Deaconess Hospital is a local healthcare provider, with their 2 hospital campuses located in NWOKC and Bethany, as well as physician offices throughout OKC and the surrounding area. Historically known for its superior nursing care and extensive medical services, Deaconess also offers an unwavering commitment to our local community.

Application Deadline: Friday, March 16, 2012

Each year the Northwest Chamber Community Scholarship Program awards scholarships ($500.00 each) to students graduating from high schools in the Northwest Chamber trade area. Scholarship recipients will also receive recognition at the April “Excellence in Education” Luncheon. Scholarship recipients are selected based on: Business Ambitions, Leadership Displayed, Community Involvement, Academic Record and Character. The scholarship is awarded to a student attending post-secondary school for the first time and will be paid directly to the post-secondary school. We encourage all qualifying students to apply. 2011 Community Scholarship Recipients

Talib Chaudhry – Putnam City North High School

Talib’s ambition sets him apart from his high school peers. He will graduate at the top of his class this year as a College Board AP Scholar. During his high school career, he has been a member of Key Club, Student Council, and the high school football program. He has also displayed his leadership through serving as National Honor Society Historian and participating in the Leadership Development Institute. He plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and continue his academic success in biotechnology/pre-med.

Kolbi Moles – Putnam City North High School

Upon graduation in May, Kolbi plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in business management with a minor in Spanish. Moles is on a distinguished leadership path as she has served as class president for the past three years and served as president of Student United of North, as she works to coordinate events and activities for students. She has been very involved in the local community through volunteering at the arts festival, food drives and church, while retaining a summer job since 2008 at a local Northwest business.

Micah Truitt – Bethany High School

Micah’s goal is a career as a elementary school teacher and she plans to reach this through pursuing a degree in education. She enjoys teaching and helping others in the community. She has actively participated in local churches caring for children and babysitting for families for three years. At Bethany High School, she has participated as a class officer, basketball manager, Spanish club officer, and also as a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Choir.  She will graduate at the top of her class this May.

Melissa Webb – Putnam City High School

Melissa has already began concurrent classes at OSU-OKC and next year plans to transfer to the University of Oklahoma to pursue occupational therapy. Her dream job is to someday work at The Children’s Center in Bethany. During her high school career, she has held a steady job at a local business in Bethany and is also involved in the local community through teaching elementary students about bullying, participating in her church’s ministry and spending time with the elderly. She has been on the pom squad all four years of high school and been in a leadership position on the squad for three years.
