SHINE stands for Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere and it is an ideal way for young people to get involved in their communities at the grassroots level. The SHINE for Students program will engage high school and college students in Oklahoma County in a wide range of volunteer community service activities… and recognize those who succeed.
Every SHINE for Students volunteer who completes 100 or more certified community service hours within Oklahoma County will receive a congratulatory certificate from the County Commissioners, a handsome red, white and blue honors cord to wear on his or her graduation gown at commencements and many schools put certified hours on school transcripts.
This experience will help to build a resume for college and work, learn how your community works, help your community while gaining life experience, learn to be a leader, meet new people, have fun and graduate with honors.
