Leadership Class Urges Community to “Spring Forward, Give Back” to The Children’s Center this March

You can be a blessing to a child with special needs this Easter season by participating in “Spring Forward, Give Back,” the Leadership Northwest Class of 2013 (LNW ‘13) effort to collect diaper donations and financial contributions to benefit patients of The Children’s Center.

Lasting throughout the month of March, LNW ‘13 invites local businesses, schools, churches, civic clubs and families to help meet the material needs of the special children served by The Children’s Center. Participating in “Spring Forward, Give Back” is easy and highly impactful. Donations of Huggies® and Pampers® brand diapers, Attends® adult diapers, Pampers Sensitive® baby wipes, as well as financial contributions will be accepted. All of the items are available at stores such as Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and CVS.

Leadership Northwest is a program developed by the Northwest Chamber to help participants learn about the cultural, social, and economic forces that impact business and the community. One of the primary goals of the program is to inform, motivate and better prepare its graduates to take on leadership roles in service to the community.

Each Leadership Northwest Class creates a special service project in service to the community. Through “Spring Forward, Give Back,” LNW ‘13 hopes to provide much needed resources for local children with special needs. “Our class had the privilege of touring The Children’s Center as part of our program. After the tour, we knew we wanted to do something to help them,” said LNW ’13 participant Kevin Richardson.

The Children’s Center (TCC) is a private, nonprofit pediatric hospital serving children with complex medical and physical disabilities in Bethany, Oklahoma, in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Ranging in age from birth to 17, patients receive state-of-the-art medical and respiratory care, rehabilitative therapies, and education classes. The dedicated staff is focused on maximizing the potential of each child. The Children’s Center is a place of hope and healing for children and their families.

“The Children’s Center is a remarkable facility whose dedication and loyalty to providing premier healthcare to children with complex medical issues has been far-reaching. It is an honor to include them in our community service initiative,” states Jill McCartney, President and CEO of the Northwest Chamber.

Several area businesses have partnered with LNW ‘13 to serve as a donation collection posts including: Oklahoma Fidelity Bank, Southwestern Christian University, Allegiance Credit Union, Southern Nazarene University, First Bethany Bank, Coppermark Bank, and the Northwest Chamber Office.
