Attractions of our Area 

Whether you are taking a once-in-a lifetime trip across America on Route 66 or enjoying an afternoon getting back to nature kayaking in the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, Northwest Oklahoma City offers options for many different experiences.

HISTORIC ROUTE 66 makes its way through our community on "NW 39th Expressway".  Traveling through Oklahoma City, Warr Acres and Bethany, you can stop to enjoy the mom and pop shops, eateries, and to take in Bethany's historic murals.

Lake Overholser provides beauty, recreation, and part of the OKC water supply. Besides walking, running or biking the trails, OKC Riversport at Lake Overholser  provide an opportunity to rent kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) and explore nature as the North Canadian River flows through the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, a 1,000 acre haven full of swamps, marshes and brush and the birds, bugs, and animals that life there.

Lake Hefner is one of OKC's most active recreational areas, featuring 36 holes at the Lake Hefner Golf Club, playgrounds at Stars & Stripes Park & Picnic Pavillion, and sailing - both with private boats, and lessons provided by OKC Riversport. The Lake Hefner Lighthouse is one of the city's most photographed attractions and the nearby restaurants on the East Shore provide amazing views of Oklahoma's brilliant watercolor sunsets.

Will Rogers Park and Gardens is one of the city's oldest and largest parks featuring a disc-golf course, Family Aquatic Center and the Oklahoma City Tennis Center, a world-class USTA tournament-level facility with 24 lighted outdoor courts and more. But the Gardens, Conservatory and Arboretum spread over 30-acres, present thousands of varieties of blooming plants in a year-round show of color. Whether you're strolling the paths, taking a class, or using the picturesque enviroment for a photo shoot, this free resource enriches our entire community.
